2011 Toucan Wines Old Vine Carignane - Two Golds and Silver Medal

Our 2011 Toucan Wines Old Vine Carignane has been awarded a Gold medal from the Pacific Rim Wine Competition, a Gold medal from the Orange County Wine Competition and a Silver medal from the California State Wine Competition. The fruit that makes up our Carignane is grown in Contra Costa County by Frank Evangelho. This old vine vineyard was planted in 1890 and produces the best Carignane fruit I've tasted. 2010 Estate Toucanet Released

You simply have to try this wine - our 2010 Estate Toucanet is our third release of a dessert wine from our small vineyard, produced from the desire to make an entirely estate based Port-styled dessert wine.

 

The 2010 release is bottled in traditional 500ml Porto styled bottles. This delicious dessert wine is not overly sweet and has amazing flavors of ripe, concentrated cherry.

 

Tasting of full-blown ripe cherry, mocha nose, and very well balanced after spending nearly 2 years in barrel prior to hand-bottling and nearly 2 years in the bottle developing before release.

 

Enjoy this wine with dessert, chocolate, sliced pears and cheeses, or on it's own by the fire.
